What really happens behind the scenes before your home ever comes together.
People are often surprised when I tell them we don’t take clients shopping.
It sounds backwards.
After all, isn’t that what interior designers do?
One of my clients answered that question for me without even realizing it.
As we finished presenting her home’s furnishings, lighting, fabrics, and finishes, she looked around the room, smiled, and said,
“I’m so glad I didn’t have to do all of this myself.”
She wasn’t talking about saving time.
She was talking about avoiding overwhelm.
That moment perfectly captured what our sourcing days are really about.
They aren’t shopping.
They’re about creating clarity.
Before We Ever Walk Into a Showroom
By the time my team begins a sourcing day, we’ve already spent weeks getting to know you and your home.
We’ve listened to how you live, what isn’t working, and how you want your home to feel. We’ve developed a design concept, established priorities, and created a clear vision for the project.
Only then do we begin visiting showrooms throughout Houston.
We’re not wandering from one beautiful display to the next hoping something inspires us.
We’re looking for very specific solutions that support a much bigger story.
That’s a very different way to shop.
Or rather…it’s not shopping at all.

Thoughtful Sourcing Starts Long Before the Showroom
A few weeks ago, Juliette and I spent the day sourcing after one of our client’s fabrics had unexpectedly been discontinued.
On the surface, that sounds simple.
Just find another fabric.
But we weren’t looking for just any replacement.
We already knew exactly what the room needed.
The scale had to feel right.
The texture needed to complement the other materials.
The color had to support the overall palette.
And it still needed just the right amount of personality.
Our job wasn’t to look at everything available.
It was to recognize the one thing that belonged.
That’s what thoughtful sourcing really is.
Not collecting options.
Editing them.

Why Experience Matters
One of the greatest advantages we bring isn’t simply knowing where to go.
It’s knowing who to call.
Over the years, we’ve built relationships with trusted showroom representatives, artisans, manufacturers, and vendors throughout Houston.
They understand our standards and often introduce us to resources that perfectly support a project’s vision.
Those relationships don’t replace good design.
They strengthen it.

What You’re Really Hiring Us For
People sometimes assume they’re hiring an interior designer to choose furniture.
They’re not.
They’re hiring someone to make thousands of decisions feel manageable.
To edit instead of overwhelm.
To guide instead of guess.
To protect them from expensive mistakes.
To make sure every decision supports the next one until the entire home feels cohesive.
Because beautiful homes aren’t created by one perfect selection.
They’re created by hundreds of thoughtful decisions working together.

The Best Compliment We Receive
At the end of that presentation, my client smiled again and said,
“I’m so glad I didn’t have to do all of this myself.”
I don’t think she was talking about fabrics.
Or furniture.
Or shopping.
She was talking about peace of mind.
That’s what thoughtful sourcing really gives our clients.
Not more choices.
More confidence.
Because beautiful homes aren’t created by seeing everything.
They’re created by knowing what belongs.
And when someone else is carrying the complexity, you get to enjoy one of the most meaningful parts of the journey—watching your home come together with confidence instead of second-guessing every decision.
That’s what we’re really designing.
Not just beautiful rooms.
A better experience.
