Two families coming together as one; we had the pleasure of designing a new home for a new beginning. We gave this home a fresh outlook by balancing the dark ebony cabinets and tuscan finishes with a lighter neutral color scheme and clean transitional lines.
Our clients did not want to take on a huge remodel, but they did want to update their new home together. How could they make this 2000 era home feel lighter and fresher while still keeping the dark cabinets, granite countertops, and busy tumbled marble backsplash and tile floors?
First, we chose a soft new greige paint color with the same pink undertones as the tile floors to lighten up the kitchen, family, and dining rooms. We also replaced the ornate lighting in the kitchen and breakfast room with airier polished nickel lanterns, and what a world of difference that made!
After that, it was a lesson in the power of decorating. New furnishings, a neutral color scheme, and paying attention to details in the finishing touches did the rest of the heavy lifting. The result is a cozy, light filled home for this new blended family to make a lifetime of memories.
