It’s not the gambling or the shows or the cool hotels that gets me to finally go to Las Vegas. But give me new trends in furniture, accessories, rugs, wall decor, and lighting, and I’m the first one on the plane! Yes, this was my first time to Las Vegas, and I had a great time. We went to one Vegas show and toured Cesar’s Palace and Bellagio, but none of that can top the glitz and glamour of the showrooms at the Las Vegas World Trade Center for me! Or any other trade show; I love going to Market.
I am excited to share with you my favorite finds, trends, and observations from summer 2018 Las Vegas Market.
One of the biggest observations I made is that there was very little of the farmhouse look and a lot more of the mid century modern, glamour, and cleaner traditional lines in the showrooms. I found that very interesting and am curious to see if that trend continues at High Point Market this fall….
Kitchen and Bathroom Showcases
Let me just say that I was thoroughly impressed with the kitchen and bathroom they had on display this year.
First, let’s talk about this glamorous blue and gold bathroom! I really don’t know what was my favorite, the gold tub, blue stone walls, or the gorgeous ebony and gold cabinets. What is your favorite?
As if the bathroom wasn’t enough, right next to it was one of the most fabulous kitchen displays I have ever seen. The lit onyx island was my favorite, followed by the black and gold cabinets as a very close second.
Gold, Black, and White
One of the hottest color trends at market was gold, black, and white. And it was all done in a very glamorous fashion! You are going to see more of the gold and black in your fixtures, black and white lacquer furniture with gold details, and white stone mixed in. You are also going to see more gold glitter in your art.
While we are on the subject of color, one of my favorite new trends is the introduction of the cabernet color. I cannot wait to use in a project soon – who wants it in there home? I saw in chairs, lamps, beds, fuzzy ottomans, and even on bookshelves.
Finally, we are seeing a lot of earth tones coming on big also – your beiges, browns, golds, and russets. And the grays are moving to darker, moodier tones. It makes me wonder how much longer we will be seeing the light and bright gray trend hanging on.
The Asian influence is coming on strong. I have been hearing about it for a few months now in CEU classes, but haven’t seen a whole lot of it yet on Instagram and Pinterest with Mid Century Modern taking over a lot right now. But, I did see it coming through at Las Vegas Market.
